program

Cairo Day Trip by Bus: 2 Days by Bus. Enjoy Cairo for two days with a personal guide and visit top attractions such as the Giza Pyramids, the Great Sphinx, the Egyptian Museum, Old Cairo, and more. On the first day, you will be picked up around 2:30 AM in an air-conditioned vehicle and drive for 5 hours to Cairo (450 km), where your tour guide will be waiting for you to begin your Cairo tour. First, you will see the largest pyramid of Khufu, known as the Great Pyramid, the only one of the Seven Wonders of the World that is still standing. Next to the Great Pyramid are the pyramids of Khafre's son and Mycarinos' grandson. You can see the Sphinx up close, the legendary guardian of the colossal tomb complex with the lion's body and the head of King Khafre. The tour also includes a visit to the Hill Temple, where priests mummified the body of King Khafre, owner of the second pyramid. You will enjoy lunch at a nice local restaurant, then continue to Saqqara (the ancient Egyptian necropolis) to visit the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the oldest large-scale stone monument in the world. You will then be transferred to your 4-star hotel. Day 2: An Egyptologist will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 a.m. and drive you in an air-conditioned vehicle to the most interesting museum, the Egyptian Museum, which displays a rare collection of artworks dating back 5,000 years. It is considered the largest and most valuable collection of Egyptian art in the world. Over 120,000 artifacts are on display here, including an exhibition dedicated to Tutankhamun's treasure and the gold and jewelry collection, which was sealed in his tomb for more than 3,500 years before being discovered during excavations of his tomb in 1922. Continue to Old Cairo; the first stop is the Hanging Church, built in the 7th century and named after its location: it sits above a gate in the ancient Roman citadel. Admire the courtyard and the interior decoration with its screens, marble pulpit, and icons, and learn about the church's long history. You will then visit the Church of Abu Serga, where the Holy Family is said to have found refuge. Then, take a look at the Ben Ezra Synagogue, formerly a Christian church. Visit Khan el-Khalili, one of the most famous and oldest markets in the Middle East. Finally, return to Hurghada.
